Recycle Your Blog Content for Even More Publicity
Recently, reader Jane Beman asked my opinion about recycling blog posts. Actually, I think this is a great idea. It’s a big timesaver and also gets your message out to a wider audience.
I’ve taken material from my blog posts and reposted on my Amazon plog and on others’ blogs. I’ve also expanded blog posts into articles and created blog posts from sections of articles. Also consider converting blog posts into ezine tips and discussion group postings.
The only caveat is to be wary of recycling when someone expects original material (for example, you’re being paid to blog or write an article). Otherwise, get creative and start thinking of new ways to reposition your existing content.

Great idea; I often use prior posts as jump-starts into something new. I especially go back to older posts when I’m feeling a little rusty or not in the writing mood — helps to get thoughts moving again.
Also, more often than not, when I re-read an older blog post, I often realize I’d left something out of the original, which is a great way to start the new post.
Thanks, Patrice for answering my question here. I hadn’t yet heard of a “plog” at Amazon. Is that short for “posting log?” lol I’ll be sure to follow through with that one.

I’ve been doing serial blog posts for a while, and even posted a series of blog posts about how to do this. You take a 5-item list, post on each point, tie it all together; then repurpose the blog posts into a much longer article which can be a special report you can give away (5 ways to make work easy, etc.) Expand each item into a longer article (500 words) and submit to article directories. Write a 5-point tip news release and submit to online press directories. Results: 5 blog posts, one special report PDF, 5 articles and one news release… More Google juice each time!
